Expert Perspective 🗣️

"Reiki doesn't just treat a symptom; it holds space for the animal to lead their own healing. In my years of practice, I’ve seen shelter dogs from Edgewood go from high-alert anxiety to a state of deep, restorative rest in a single session. It’s about restoring the 'Ki' (life force) so the body can do what it was designed to do: heal." ❤️ - Kathleen Prasad, Founder of Animal Reiki Source

The "Heart-to-Heart" Connection: More Than Just Healing 💞

When you book a Reiki session for your dog, you aren't just buying a service—you are honoring the silent contract of love between you and your best friend. Our dogs are emotional sponges; they often carry our stress, our grief, and our busy Edgewood energy in their own bodies. 🐕💨

How to Help Your Dog Feel Comfortable During a Reiki Session in Edgewood

Creating a comfortable environment can help your dog feel more relaxed during an in-person Reiki session. Whether a practitioner visits your home or you travel to an appointment, a little preparation can make the experience more familiar and less stressful for your companion.

Here are a few ways to prepare your dog:

Choose a familiar setting: If the session takes place at home, select a quiet area where your dog normally feels safe and comfortable.

Keep familiar items nearby: Your dog's favorite blanket, bed, or toy can provide a sense of familiarity during the session.

Allow time to get acquainted: Give your dog an opportunity to approach and become comfortable with the Reiki practitioner without being rushed.

Respect your dog's boundaries: Never force your dog to sit still, accept physical contact, or remain in one place. Allow your companion to move around or take a break.

Share important details: Tell the practitioner about your dog's personality, age, temperament, and any situations that may cause stress.

Maintain normal routines: Keep your dog's usual feeding, walking, and resting schedule whenever possible.

Pet parents in Edgewood should look for a dog Reiki practitioner who respects each animal's individual comfort level and adjusts the session accordingly. Reiki is a complementary wellness practice and should not replace veterinary diagnosis, treatment, or advice.

Reiki offers a rare moment of "unplugged" connection. You may notice your dog sighing deeply, leaning into the practitioner, or falling into a twitchy, dreaming sleep 💤. This is the sound of a nervous system finally resetting. Whether it’s softening the discomfort of a senior dog's hips 🦴 or helping a rescue pup realize they are finally safe, Reiki is a gift of peace that echoes through your entire home. 🏠🌈

Frequently Asked Questions ❓

Does my dog have to stay still during the session? 🐕

Not at all! Unlike human Reiki, dogs are encouraged to move freely. They can choose to lie down, walk around, or even leave the room. The energy finds them wherever they are most comfortable.

Can Reiki replace my vet visits in Edgewood? 🏥

Reiki is a complementary therapy, not a replacement for veterinary care. It works beautifully alongside traditional medicine to speed up recovery and reduce the side effects of medications.

What are the signs that the Reiki is working? ✨

Keep an eye out for "releases": deep sighs, licking and chewing, stretching, yawning, or a sudden deep sleep. These are all signs that your dog is letting go of stored tension.
