Common coat colors include liver and white, black and white, or either combination with tan markings. Its movement is lively and energetic, reflecting its working-dog heritage.

English Springer Spaniels are generally cheerful, affectionate, and eager to be involved with their people. They are known for being alert, intelligent, and enthusiastic, often showing a playful, outgoing nature. Many are sociable with familiar people and enjoy having a purpose or activity to focus on.
