The breed

The Briard is a large, rugged French herding dog with a strong, rectangular build and a distinctive long, slightly wavy coat. Its shaggy hair often falls over the eyes, giving the breed a thoughtful, rustic appearance. Briards come in several solid colors, including black, tawny, and gray, and are especially recognizable for their beard and bushy eyebrows.

Briards are intelligent, devoted, and alert dogs with a strong sense of loyalty to their families. Originally developed to herd and guard livestock, they are often confident, watchful, and naturally protective. They can be playful and affectionate with people they know, while tending to be reserved or cautious around strangers.

Are you looking for a devoted large dog to join you on active days and help watch over your home? Consider the Briard for this role.
