The breed

The Chow Chow is a distinctive, sturdy dog with a lion-like mane of thick fur around the head and neck. Its coat may be smooth or rough and comes in colors such as red, black, blue, cinnamon, and cream. Chow Chows have a broad head, small rounded ears, a curled tail carried over the back, and the breed’s famous blue-black tongue.

Often calm and dignified, the Chow Chow tends to be reserved with strangers and strongly attached to its family. Many are independent and quiet rather than highly demonstrative, giving them a cat-like reputation. Their serious expression and self-possessed manner can make them seem aloof, but they are generally loyal companions with a distinctive, thoughtful presence.

Are you looking for a dignified companion that prefers a calm home and a close bond with its family? Consider a Chow Chow for this role.
