The breed

Border Collies are medium-sized, athletic herding dogs with a lean, balanced build and an alert expression. Their coats may be smooth or rough and come in many colors, most famously black and white, though red, merle, sable, and tricolor patterns also occur. They often have bright, expressive eyes and ears that may stand upright, fold over, or do both.

Known for exceptional intelligence and focus, Border Collies are energetic, responsive, and highly observant. They are famous for their strong herding instinct, quick learning ability, and intense concentration on tasks. Many are affectionate and loyal with their families, but they can be reserved with strangers and may show a natural tendency to watch, chase, or gather moving animals and objects.

Are you looking for an energetic partner for herding work, dog sports, or active outdoor days? Consider a Border Collie for this focused, responsive role.
