The breed

The Xoloitzcuintli, often called the Xolo or Mexican Hairless Dog, is an ancient breed from Mexico. It comes in toy, miniature, and standard sizes, with a sleek, athletic outline and large upright ears. Most Xolos are nearly hairless, showing smooth skin in colors such as black, gray, bronze, or reddish brown, though coated varieties also exist. Their almond-shaped eyes and thoughtful expression give them a distinctive, elegant appearance.

Xolos are generally calm, alert, and deeply devoted to their families. They often form especially close bonds with one person while remaining affectionate with familiar people. Reserved or watchful around strangers, they can be excellent alert dogs without being excessively noisy. Their temperament is often described as intelligent, sensitive, and dignified, with a playful side that appears among trusted companions.

Are you looking for a watchful companion that stays close to home? Consider a Xoloitzcuintli for this role.
