Schnauzer

The breed

Schnauzers are sturdy, distinctive dogs best known for their wiry coats, bushy eyebrows, and prominent beard. They come in three sizes—Miniature, Standard, and Giant—while sharing a square, athletic outline and alert expression. Common coat colors include salt and pepper, black, and black and silver. Their bold facial furnishings give them a characterful, almost human-like appearance.

In temperament, Schnauzers are typically lively, intelligent, and confident. They are often devoted to their families and naturally watchful, with an alert bark and a strong awareness of their surroundings. Many are playful and energetic, while also showing an independent, determined streak. Their bright, spirited nature makes them memorable companions with plenty of personality.
