Kuvasz

The breed

The Kuvasz is a large, powerful Hungarian livestock guardian with a striking white coat. Its dense double coat is usually wavy or slightly curly, giving the dog a rugged yet elegant appearance. Kuvaszok have a strong, athletic build, a broad head, dark eyes, and a black nose and lips that contrast with their pale fur. Their overall expression is alert and dignified.

Known for loyalty and courage, the Kuvasz is deeply devoted to its family and naturally protective of its home and territory. It is often calm and affectionate with familiar people, but can be watchful and reserved around strangers. Intelligent and independent-minded, this breed has a confident character shaped by its historic role as a guardian.
