The breed

The Canaan Dog is a medium-sized, athletic dog with a lean, balanced build and a distinctive wedge-shaped head. Its upright, pointed ears and alert expression give it a watchful appearance. The coat is short to medium in length, with a dense undercoat, and may be sandy, red, white, black, or patched in color. Its tail is usually carried curled over the back when the dog is alert.

Canaan Dogs are intelligent, observant, and naturally cautious around unfamiliar people or situations. They tend to form close bonds with their families while remaining independent and self-possessed. Often lively and quick to notice changes in their surroundings, they have a strong natural awareness and can be reserved with strangers. Their temperament is commonly described as loyal, responsive, and spirited.

Are you looking for an alert companion that enjoys having a job and watching over the home? Consider the Canaan Dog for this role.
