The breed

The Chinese Shar-Pei is a distinctive medium-sized dog known for its loose, wrinkled skin and broad, “hippopotamus” muzzle. It has a compact, sturdy body, small folded ears, and a curled tail carried over its back. Its short, bristly coat may appear in many solid colors, including fawn, cream, black, red, and blue.

Shar-Peis are often calm, dignified, and independent. They tend to be deeply loyal to their families while reserved or watchful around unfamiliar people. Their serious expression can make them seem aloof, but many are affectionate with those they know well. The breed is generally intelligent and self-possessed, with a quietly confident character.

Are you looking for a calm, watchful companion for a quieter home? Consider a Chinese Shar-pei for that role.
