Pet Loss at Home

Customer Reviews

Dr. Tracey Decter and Pet Loss At Home was the perfect selection for our family to say goodbye to our beloved Kodi. She was so empathetic and patient. She kept checking in with us making sure all our questions up to the day of were answered. She explained everything and told us what we could expect which made it easier for us to prepare. She helped us say goodbye to our pet with love and dignity and he was able to be comfortable at home and not scared in a clinic or somewhere unfamiliar. If you are in the unfortunate spot where you have to make this decision just know she will make the decision that much better. I can't say enough about how happy and at peace I am with how we were able to say goodbye to our boy. - West Palm Beach, Florida - February 2025

My beloved pooch was a shelter rescue who had been adopted and returned multiple times before we found each other. The vet's office reminded him of being dropped off and left behind, so when it was clear his time had come I really didn't want his last moments to be in the vet's office. We had several good years together and I felt so grateful for all of the love he had given me. I really wanted to do well by him at the end. At 10 p.m. on a Monday night, I called the number for Pet Loss at Home and listened to the pre-recorded greeting. It instructed me to call or text the number in the greeting. I texted and was relieved when Dr. Rachel wrote back quickly. She agreed to come at 8:00 a.m. the next day. I felt fortunate that she was able to come to my home on such short notice. She arrived on time at 8 a.m. and could not have been kinder or more professional. She was wonderful to my sweet boy and very soothing. This was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do and it felt comforting to be able to say goodbye in our home, sitting in his favorite spot together. Dr. Rachel gave hugs before she left and a couple of days later I received a touching card in the mail. I didn't really do much research into this service as my dog declined very quickly and I was concerned about whether or not the person who arrived would be compassionate and professional. Dr. Rachel was all of that and more. My heart goes out to you if you're in need of this service, but if you do, you're in good hands.

I had to have my cat Jackson put to sleep this evening. Dr. Allegra Liu was very professional and compassionate. She came to my home on very short notice. I would recommend this vet for all of your pet needs. I am very grateful to her and her genuine love for our fur babies! Thank you Dr. - San Francisco, CA

Incredibly respectful, patient, compassionate, attentive, and accommodating service. Dr. Darden made one of the saddest moments a far more positive experience than I could have imagined. Very professional. Our dog was treated with kindness and dignity and was never scared or distressed, and the process for the humans was as easy and smooth as possible. - Columbus, GA

As heartbreaking as it is, these vets are the most caring individuals I've interacted with. They take their time with you and let you go at your own pace. They kept my baby comfortable will I said goodbye. I did the right thing by having them to come to the house. My baby crossed the bridge knowing only love. - Aurora, IL

Everything about this company is simply amazing. From the moment I made the phone call, I knew I made the right choice. The lady on the phone was so understanding and compassionate. Took the time to ask about my baby and let me know she understood how difficult making the call was, and made me feel comfortable enough to move forward with what needed to be done. The vet showed up to our house exactly on time, and immediately gave our girl a shot to calm her down, so our last moments were not full of anxiety. She made it clear that how everything proceeded from there was up to us, that we could take as much time as we needed. When the time for the final shot came, it was so quick and painless that I almost couldn't believe it was done. Our precious baby who had been suffering for so long was given the most peaceful transition anyone could ask for. The prices were far lower than other companies in our area, and they coordinated with a cremation service to take her away after everything was done. The man who came for that was polite and respectful and didn't approach us during the procedure, instead waited off to the side until everything was done. When it was he greeted us, offered his condolences and very gently wrapped her up and carried her to his truck, where he gently and carefully placed her inside. Not an easy task considering she was a large dog, but he handled her very well. We were given a beautiful clay paw print and later a card in the mail, expressing their sorrow for our loss but thanking us for trusting them in such an important moment. If we ever find ourselves in this position again, these are the people who I will turn to. - Houston, Texas

I'm so grateful to have found this service. My almost 13 year old lab stumbled while running and I don't think I could have gotten her in the car to take to my vet. If I had, I wouldn't be able to be with her, and I knew that, at 13 years old, with other ageing issues, I had a difficult decision to make. I thought for a day to weigh if her leg could improve versus how she was losing mobility. I searched for this service because I wanted to be with my dog to the last minute. The vet came as scheduled, while Dolly and I were in one of her favorite grassy spots in the yard. She was so courteous and professional and sensitive while I went back and forth to coming to terms with losing my majestic companion and crying uncontrolably. I wanted to write this review to let anyone else struggling know that it takes a lot of compassion and guts to make this decision before it is made for you. And I'm so grateful that we had our own relaxing last night and relaxing last day, and didn't have the stress of going to an office. The vet arranged the crematorium service, which is a different business, but they work together, and both explained everything to me, and gave me options. - Tomball, Texas
