Bad Dog Good Dog Trainer - Philadelphia, PA
I am a behavior consultant and can help with all your pet training needs. For a new puppy, starting our right learning about the world and how to navigate living with people while still in that first development stage can make a big difference in becoming a well-adjusted adult. For a new rescue dog, building trust and confidence while teaching basic manners makes for a happier transition with your new family member.
In addition, I can help with behavior problems including separation anxiety, reactivity towards other dogs or people, or general fear and anxiety. If you have specific needs for your dog, such as help with getting comfortable with grooming or medical care, building a good recall, or developing good walking manners, I can help.
I offer discounted training packages in addition to by the hour.
I also teach classes for dog parkour and tricks, which are good for dogs of all ages and skill levels.
I offer all of these services through online training and outdoor in-person sessions in Germantown.

When choosing a dog trainer, professional certifications are a strong indicator of expertise, experience, and commitment to ethical, science-based methods. Widely recognized credentials include the CPDT-KA or CPDT-KSA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, which demonstrate mastery of modern training techniques, canine behavior, and learning theory. The KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner) highlights trainers skilled in positive reinforcement and clicker training, while the IAABC Certified Dog Trainer credential, recognized internationally, signals advanced knowledge in behavior modification and problem-solving. Membership or certification through the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) further reflects ongoing education and adherence to ethical standards. Many trainers also pursue specialty certifications in areas such as aggression management, behavior modification, or puppy development to address specific challenges.
For pet parents, choosing a certified trainer like CJ Hazell, ensures that your dog’s training is grounded in science, safety, and compassion. Asking about a trainer’s credentials is one of the best ways to make a confident, informed choice.
