What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?

Treat animals with kindness and respect. Understand that if they're not understanding something you're trying to teach them, they're not being stubborn! You are likely leaving some information that they need out, not being consistent, or jumping too many steps ahead.

What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!

You can have great training and behavior modification results using gentle, positive methods. I will help you put yourself in your pet's shoes and understand why they are behaving the way they are, how to change that behavior for a more harmonious household, and a happier pet!

Customer Reviews

Cherie was wonderful and really put our mind at ease about our plan to introduce our new cat to our current one!

- Sara M
Pet Pro's Response:

Sara was well prepared for our consultation and even sent me an email detailing her plans for a cat to cat introduction. She was also friendly and essy to talk to. I'd be happy to work with her again!

- Cherie Mascis

Cherie was helpful in providing me with insight and feedback concerning all of my questions. It was good to talk through the topics at hand with someone who was experienced with cat introductions given I have received a lot of criticism from multiple friends and family members (even some vet techs at our vet's office) for not speeding up the introduction process between the two. Thank you for your time and patience and for talking through the complexities of the situation to give me a better idea of how to move forward and confirm whether we are "on the right track" regarding "next steps".

🦔 Work One-on-One with Cherie Mascis - Certified Animal Behaviorist in Columbus, NC

If you're looking for an expert animal behaviorist in Columbus, Polk County, or surrounding areas like Tryon, Landrum, Columbus, Rutherfordton, Inman, Tryon, Forest City, Boiling Springs, Spindale, Duncan, Cherie Mascis is available for private virtual sessions.

While many pet parents start their search looking for "someone near me" in North Carolina, the beauty of a virtual behavioral consultation is that your pet stays in their natural environment—the exact place where anxiety, aggression, or territorial issues usually occur. Working with Cherie Mascis means you get elite-level expertise without the stress of travel or geographic limits.

Why Choose a Behavioral Consultation?

A general pet trainer focuses on teaching commands like "sit" or "stay." Cherie goes deeper, addressing the root causes of complex behaviors rooted in fear, trauma, or separation anxiety. Whether you're in the heart of Columbus or elsewhere in NC, you can access a personalized plan to help your pet feel safe again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be located in Columbus to work with Cherie?
No! Because sessions are conducted entirely online, you can book Cherie Mascis from anywhere in North Carolina or across the country.

Are virtual sessions as effective as in-person visits?
In many cases, they are more effective. Pets are frequently on their "best behavior" (or shut down) in a clinic or when a stranger enters their home. A virtual session allows Cherie to observe your pet’s true behavior via camera in a stress-free setting.

What equipment do I need?
Just a smartphone, tablet, or laptop with a camera and a stable internet connection.

Behind every reactive or anxious pet is an animal that deserves to feel safe—and an owner who deserves to feel hopeful again. Don't wait for the behavior to escalate. Start a conversation with Cherie Mascis today and take the first step toward a more peaceful home in Columbus.
