A Focused Touch provides professional bodywork for your horse! We ask a lot of our equine friends: carrying us around, jumping over obstacles, dashing through endurance courses, around barrels, and prancing with precision on queue. Just because they're big and strong, our horses are not immune to the aches and pains we inevitably experience in our lives. Regular bodywork keeps athletes competing, and your horse is an athlete. Equine Bodywork is an ideal way to naturally enhance your equine athlete’s performance capabilities. And just like you, factors such as age and fitness, past injuries and conformation will affect how your horse responds to treatment. With progressive treatments, you may notice things like a greater willingness to work and cooperate, a freer, more fluid gait, or a reduction in the amount of time needed to heal from an injury and get back to work. Pain, postural and mobility issues may start to gradually melt away.
A Focused Touch has been serving horses and their riders since 2009, and specializes in blending massage and CranioSacral therapy. Horses respond favorably to CranioSacral therapy because it is very gentle and helps them to soften deep-seated tissue restrictions. Because horses and riders tend to mirror each other's compensation patterns, horses also benefit when their riders receive bodywork in conjunction with them. I've spent hundred of hours furthering my bodywork education since A Focused Touch opened in 2009. I am constantly learning from my clients, and studying to improve my knowledge of horses, CranioSacral therapy, anatomy and physiology.
What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?
Some animals will not actively engage with bodywork if they are distracted. An ideal session will occur somewhere your horse is comfortable and able to pay attention to me as I work.
