The breed

The Norwegian Elkhound is a sturdy, medium-sized spitz-type dog with a compact, square build and a thick double coat suited to cold weather. Its coat is typically gray with darker shading along the back and lighter fur on the chest and legs. It has upright pointed ears, a wedge-shaped head, dark expressive eyes, and a tightly curled tail carried over its back.

This breed is known for being bold, alert, and energetic, with a strong sense of independence. Norwegian Elkhounds are often loyal and affectionate with their families while remaining watchful around unfamiliar people. Originally developed for hunting large game in Scandinavia, they tend to be confident, vocal, and determined, with an intelligent, spirited personality.

Are you looking for an energetic hunting companion that stays alert on outdoor adventures? Consider the Norwegian Elkhound for that role.
