The breed

The Dachshund is a small, distinctive dog with a long, low body, short legs, and an alert expression. Its narrow muzzle, deep chest, and strong front paws reflect its history as a scent hound. Dachshunds come in smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired coat types, with colors including red, black and tan, chocolate, cream, and patterned varieties.

Dachshunds are often lively, curious, and determined. They tend to form close bonds with their families and may be playful, affectionate companions. Their independent streak can make them seem bold or stubborn, while their keen senses often make them attentive to unfamiliar sounds and activity. Many retain a strong instinct to investigate scents and dig.

Are you looking for a small, spirited companion with a bold streak? Consider a Dachshund for an alert, devoted dog that enjoys being close to its people.
