Stephen was recommended to our rescue as we needed help in working with Patrick, who had been used as a bait cat. From the first conversation with Stephen, it was apparent that he not only brings extensive knowledge to each case, but immense compassion for the feline and humans involved. I felt that I had found a true partner to work with to help Patrick and it was obvious that Stephen cared about Patrick's outcome just as much as I did. So grateful for being put into contact with Stephen as he will be a behavioral resource for our rescue going forward.
- Karen GYou may think that you need to rehome your favorite furball, for whatever behavioral issues have arisen. But please think twice, Stephen is fantastic at troubleshooting a cat’s behavioral needs so that you and kitty can live more harmoniously. Having decades of cat experience, Stephen is very experienced and comes up with doable plans that work. I volunteer as the cat coordinator for a rescue group. We hire Stephen regularly, so that we can keep our cats in their foster homes and with their adoptive pet parents. He has helped turn around attack cats, cats going outside of the litter box, cats that resource guard, cats that are bored and bonkers, cats that yowl at night etc. No issue is unusual to Stephen. His work has also been very informative in helping us to adopt out our cats to appropriate homes. Too many cat parents feel hopeless and upset when kitty is behaving in a way that disrupts family life, but Stephen mitigates these issues and offers solutions and hope. Five out of five paws!
- Be SStephen is an incredible behaviorist and human being. Compassionate to his core, I’m so grateful to have been able to work with him to find a solution to a difficult situation. He gave me hope when mine ran out and I can’t thank him enough! He is so knowledgeable and dedicated to what he does - I’ll be singing his praises for years to come.
- Allison DStephen is a miracle worker. I HIGHLY recommend hiring him for any and all cat behavioral questions/needs. He is truly such a thoughtful, kind, and patient human being. He’s extremely prompt and communicative as well. With every case study presented to him, Stephen will dedicate 110% of his time and efforts. We came to Stephen 8 months after introducing a new cat to our home when we were at our wits end. For 8 straight months, we had to separate our resident cat (3 yrs old) from the new cat (also 3 yrs old) via a pet gate. The resident cat would bite, chase, and harass the new cat any chance it got. We could never leave the two cats alone (unattended) for more than 30 min together. After meeting with Stephen over Zoom, Stephen provided such a thorough game plan for us to follow in order to help mediate the behaviors taking place between the two cats. Stephen also taught us why the cats were behaving the way they were in the first place. We immediately saw significant improvements in the first 2 weeks of Stephen’s behavioral plan. And after the first month, the cats are now getting along extremely well. We don’t have to separate them anymore! Connecting with Stephen was the BEST decision I’ve ever made. We now have a healthy and happy home again all thanks to Stephen!! We can’t thank him enough for everything that he’s done for us.
- Caylin FI love reading through all of the five-star reviews on here, and see that I‘m late to the Stephen Quandt review party and fan club! Well, count me in wholeheartedly! Stephen guided my husband and I through helping our sweet Wally overcome his food obsession and “counter surfing”…when we thought we had tried everything: plenty of vertical space to call his own, timer feeder, multiple feedings a day, spray can deterrents, plenty of play time, double-sided sticky tape, and even countertop spikes (the non harmful kind of course). We knew we had to seek help when he almost turned on the stove top range! It was his anxiety around food scarcity that kept him searching for the next meal and putting himself in danger, and Stephen compassionately led us through a thoughtful, tailored plan for us and for Wally - with consistent check-ins - to help ease Wally‘s anxiety. He gave us an even deeper understanding into Wally and cat behavior in general. I am so happy to say that Wally is calm and no longer triggered when he smells food. We‘ve even come to the point where we can cook meals with Wally in the kitchen and he pays no mind to us or the food! I cannot recommend Stephen enough! We‘ve become even more thoughtful and understanding cat parents, and even contacted Stephen for more consultation as we’ve considered adopting a second cat, and now he has been guiding us through the process of how to do so for the best outcome for everyone involved! I know we are in the most capable hands of Stephen‘s cat behavior expertise! He is so incredibly gifted, don‘t think twice about booking with him!!!
- Catherine ZStephen led our family through the initial feelings of helplessness and defeat to hopefulness and joy over the last month or so. With Stephen's steadfast guidance and cat behavior expertise, we were able to help our new rescue cat, Levi, acclimate to his new home and resident feline siblings. One of our cats, Billy, was struggling to accept Levi's playful personality and rambunctious behaviors which resulted in a few "spats" that left us very disheartened. Stephen's comprehensive approach through detailed guides, helpful recommendations, and consistent communication via email and Zoom sessions resulted in Billy and Levi not just tolerating one another, but growing into friends! We are looking forward to continuing to apply all of the information we learned (he is a wealth of knowledge!) into our continued work with our feline family for years to come. I cannot stress enough how grateful we are to Stephen. He is a wonderful human being who clearly has a deep love for animals and a passion for the mission of feline wellbeing.
- Alexa CMy six year old cat, always a little feisty, pounced on me several times as I was going to sleep--scary as my eyes were threatened. The vet found her in good health. Stephen thought she might be very hungry (vet had her on a very limited diet) and suggested I add another 'mini meal' in the evening which I did. Three weeks from when I began more feeding there hasn't been a pounce or a bite and I'm fairly confident this will hold. Stephen has been incredibly helpful, and I'm highly appreciative.
- Mari GI highly recommend Stephen to anyone who is introducing a new cat into their home. We’ve tried introducing our furry orange, Pretzel, to several cats in the past, and it’s always been unsuccessful. When we got Val, we really wanted it to work out but the first few weeks were rough. Any time pretzel approached her, she’d hiss and swat at him, even though we tried the “slow introduction” approach. Stephen talked us through additional techniques that you don’t typically see in the more popular cat behavior YouTube videos, and it made all the difference. Stephen also viewed videos of Pretzel and Val’s interactions and helped give clarity to what was actually happening, and how to work through it. A few months later, I can happily say that Pretzel and Val are good friends. They look out the window together, play/hang out together, and just yesterday we caught Val grooming Pretzel! I’m just so so happy. 10/10 would recommend Stephen. You won’t regret it.
- Diane SWhen we first reached out to Stephen we had recently rescued a six month old kitten, and our senior cat was having none of it. When we put them together he would lunge and chase, she would run in terror, we’d separate them, and it would happen all over again when we put them back together. We had been feeding this kitten in our driveway for weeks and were already in love with her, and obviously our senior cat wasn’t going anywhere, so we were at wits end. Stephen was so kind and helpful, guiding us through a series of steps over the course of about three months, answering all of our questions and helping us understand why we were doing what we were doing, rather than just giving us steps to follow without any background or explanation. It’s been a few months and our two cats are living together now! Not yet best friends, but they are relaxed in each other‘s company so there is no more fighting and they are starting to play together. Hiring Stephen was such a great decision for our family, I am so glad we did it and would recommend him without hesitation to anyone with cat behavior trouble!
- Courtney VI found Stephen 3 years ago when I needed help with my scaredy cat Gracie. With Stephen’s assessment and guidance plan I was able to know that Gracie is a very happy cat even though she does hide a lot. My goal was to have her become more social with me so I could give her the love I wanted to give and have her love in return. I followed his plan and got the amazing results of a Cat not always hiding and enjoying our time together with brushing, playing and lots of treats. I am confident that Stephen can put a solid plan together should any challenging situations come up in the future. He gave me a peace of mind I so needed, and Gracie a schedule she can count on to feel safe displaying affection and have interactive play time.

- Ellen OStephen is the best. When I first adopted my senior kitty, I thought I was going to have to rehome her due to her aggressive behaviors towards my other cat. With Stephen's help, I was able to slowly integrate them into each other's lives and now they coexist beautifully. Stephen is obviously extremely knowledgeable, but also incredibly understanding and really meets you where you're at. I can't recommend him enough and am so grateful that the shelter I adopted from put me in contact with him.
- Miller KCompassionate. Experienced. Accessible. Practical. Offers clear, proven strategies for addressing key behavior issues and educates his clients as to why cats do what they do. Once you consult with Stephen, you've got a cat behaviorist in your pocket for life. He's supremely kind, helpful, and in love with all things cat. That's the guy you want helping you help your furry friend. On behalf of Pickles, Mr. Brown, and Pepper Jack, I owe him a huge debt of gratitude.
- Tracey GWe came to Stephen for what we thought was a case of aggression between our cats. After our consultation and reviewing footage, Stephen accurately diagnosed the problem differently - as an overactive cat that was not getting enough enriching play. After reading Stephen's report and plan for our cats, and implementing the advice within to provide our cats with more structured play and reward experiences, among other things, we have already seen a significant change. Our cats are no longer getting into spats/fights, and they both seem more fulfilled and calm. After scheduled play time & getting a reward (rather than random ones) they are napping more. They are sleeping close to each other, and seem more comfortable. We can't thank Stephen enough for his help, and are really glad that we decided to reach out to him. We wholeheartedly recommend Stephen's services! - June 2026
- Jon GStephen helped so much! We had an issue with one of the cats urinating outside the box - but close to the box - and Stephen suggested multiple simple solutions to improve the situation. We tried the solutions right away. Fast forward three weeks - no peeing happens outside of the box and our carpets are safe again. Stephen also gave us some guidance on cats interacting with each other. It was a huge help and a huge relief! I'm definitely recommending Stephen to my friends with cats.
- Irena MI adopted a cat, Nemo, who was scheduled to be euthanized due to her behavior. She was aggressive, loud, and wouldn’t let anyone near her. My heart took to her as soon as I met her, and I applied to adopt her. Once I brought her home, Nemo would “scream” if she even heard me within 20 feet of her and would attack if I got within a few feet of her. At the end of Nemo’s first week here, she barricaded me in my apartment by not allowing me to cross from one end to the other. I isolated myself in a room with absolutely no idea what to do. On a whim, I searched for cat behaviorists and came across Stephen. I emailed him and he very quickly made time to call me due to the severity of the situation. I began working virtually with Stephen and saw measurable changes over the next few weeks. From his guidance, I kept Nemo in a room by herself with everything she needed. Week 1: Nemo stopped hissing at me every single time I walked by ; Week 2: Nemo began exploring her room and toys, and eating the treats I left for her. She also started occasionally greeting me with friendly meows ; Week 3: She let me hand-feed her a treat (while purring!). A day later, she let me pet her, and absolutely could not get enough of the attention. After week 3, Stephen worked with me to introduce Nemo to the rest of the apartment. By week 4, my girl was out and about like she owned the place. Nemo is currently one of the sweetest, gentlest, most playful cats I’ve ever known. She sleeps next to me in bed, cuddles up on the couch next to me, and is almost always head-butting me for pets and attention. I truly can’t believe not only what a huge difference in behavior she’s displaying, but also how quickly she turned around. I cannot express how grateful I am for Stephen’s expertise, guidance, and encouragement. He helped me give a cat a second chance, quite literally saving her life, and it’s evident how much his heart is in his work. I fully recommend Stephen to anyone facing issues with their kitty! - June 2026
- Krishani TWorking with Stephen was awesome! We were dealing with territorial and aggressive behavior between our two cats and Stephen was thorough, responsive and kind throughout the process. He met with us and put together a comprehensive, simple to follow plan for our cats. After our assessment he was always available to answer follow up questions and to coach the humans through a stressful process. We can’t recommend Stephen enough and will not hesitate to contact him if we have any questions/problems in the future.
- Amy KStephen has been an invaluable resource! I would recommend him 100% to anyone dealing with cat behavior issues. A neighbor cat caused a few redirected aggression incidents in our 5 year old littermate cats and we were so distraught and worried they would never get along again. We started our journey of reintroduction with Stephen by our side and he was extremely helpful in guiding us through each step. Stephen was very responsive to us (as we would send daily videos of progress) and was extremely helpful in letting us know when to move forward or when to tweak things to get a better result. After a few months of work and with the guidance of Stephen we now have our cats back together and I could not be happier!

- Courtney VStephen helped us about a year ago when we brought our new kitten home to our older cat, Evie. At first it was utter chaos in our apartment, she did not like him one bit! My husband and I struggled learning how to integrate them together and Stephen was INCREDIBLE! He was patient, kind, and always had useful feedback. About one year has passed and they are now inseparable siblings, all thanks to Stephen and his guidance! Thanks Stephen!
