Brushwork Portraits

Brushwork Portraits

I'm sure I was born an artist. Since I can remember I have painted animals and people, trying to capture their likenesses. I've always been fascinated by what I could do with just crayons and paints and lines and colors. I even painted my first "still life" when I was in kindergarten...

I've been creating portrait art from favorite photos and snapshots for over 25 years. I etched my first commissioned portrait in 1990 on a 2000 lb. chunk of jet black granite using a diamond scribe. My degree is in fashion design; I've worked in costume design and interior design, but I discovered as monument artist and designer that my first love is creating fine art, and that I have a special affinity to creating portrait art. Besides getting caught up in the magic that happens when I immerse myself in the process of creating, I love to paint portraits in particular because of the intrigue and challenge of capturing the intangible qualities that make a person or animal who they uniquely are.
