WHY PETWORKS

Why artists choose PetWorks

Pet parents come to PetWorks to have their dog or cat painted while they still can, and to remember them afterward. Artists list here to get found by those parents, quote each commission themselves, and get paid through the platform - deposit up front, balance on delivery. Your listing is your gallery, and it is open to parents nationwide.

Get found by pet parents

Parents search Google and ChatGPT for the care they need. A PetWorks listing is how they find you.

You set packages and prices

Build your own sessions, programs, or custom quotes. You decide what you charge.

Get paid through Stripe

Parents pay on PetWorks. Earnings go to your bank automatically, without chasing invoices.

Credentials sit on your listing

Certifications, affiliations, and reviews show where pet parents look first when they choose a pro.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do portrait commissions work on PetWorks?
A pet parent sends you their photos and what they have in mind, and you reply with a custom quote. Larger commissions can be split into a deposit up front and a balance when the piece is finished, so you are paid before you start the work.
What pet portrait mediums and styles can I list?
Any of them - oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, sculpture, or digital. Your listing photos act as your portfolio, so upload your strongest finished pieces and pet parents will come to you for that style.
How much does PetWorks charge pet portrait artists?
Listing is free once you're approved. Optional Featured and Premium subscription upgrades are paid. When a commission is paid through PetWorks, we withhold 15% as a booking fee, and on larger commissions the combined fee is 15% on the first $1,000 + 3% on every dollar over $1,000 - so a big multi-pet oil painting is not charged a flat 15%.
How do I get pet portrait commissions on PetWorks?
A pet parent finds your listing, sends you their photos, and accepts your quote. Once they pay the deposit, the commission lands in your PetWorks inbox with their photos and the delivery date you gave them, and you mark it complete when the piece ships. You can also list fixed-price packages if you offer standard sizes, which parents book and pay for directly. This tutorial video walks through the platform end to end.
When do I get paid for a pet portrait commission?
On a deposit-and-balance commission the deposit is charged when the pet parent accepts, so you are paid before you start the work, and the balance is charged on delivery. Each payment is paid out to your bank automatically and often arrives within a few business days. Your first payout may take longer while Stripe verifies your account.
How do pet parents pay me?
Once you enroll in online payments, pet parents book you online using Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Affirm, and Klarna. Our payments are powered by Stripe.
Can I take pet portrait commissions from anywhere?
Yes. PetWorks covers the United States and Canada, and because finished work ships, artists here take commissions from pet parents anywhere we operate rather than only in their own city.
Why list my pet portrait work on PetWorks?
Because pet parents come here to have their dog or cat painted while they still can, and to remember them afterward - they arrive ready to commission. Your listing acts as your gallery, you quote each piece yourself, and you get paid through the platform.
How do pet parents find PetWorks?
Mostly Google and ChatGPT. A pet parent searches for what they need - "pet transport to Florida", "animal chiropractor near me" - and a PetWorks category or listing page comes up, or they ask an AI assistant to help them find a pro and it sends them here. Either way they arrive already looking to hire, which is why your photos, your description, and your reviews do so much of the work once they land on your listing.
Can I join PetWorks without using your payment system?
You cannot list your pet care services with PetWorks without enrolling in our payment system.
Can I create a listing if I'm not in the U.S.?
Yes, if you're in Canada! We currently welcome pet pros and pet parents in the United States and Canada. For this reason, we're only looking for pet lovers in the U.S. and Canada to join us (for now!)
Where is PetWorks based?
The PetWorks platform is nationwide, but our corporate offices are in Westport, Connecticut.
What if I still have questions?
If you have additional questions about how things work at PetWorks, please send us a message and someone will get back to you ASAP! If you prefer to chat on the phone, ring us at (203) 450-6597.
