Wonder Dog Training - Private In Home Dog Training - Escondido, CA

Member since Apr 2020

Wonder Dog Training methods are fun, fast, and effective! We believe that dog training and behavior modification should be a positive experience for the dog and for the dog parents. We don't believe in using pain to "train." Harsh tools and techniques are cruel, ineffective, and cause more problems than they solve. Our methods are kind, gentle, and force-free.

We have a talented team of dedicated, experienced dog trainers (and dog parent coaches), who work with you to customize a training program for you and your dog. Because we are fully invested in your dog's success, we start with an initial evaluation so that we can better understand your needs and requirements.

We offer private in-home training, and virtual/remote training to our clients. We also offer virtual obedience classes, puppy socialization classes, and Canine Good Citizen. We even offer a variety of board and train programs, dog walking, daycare, and overnight boarding!

We are located in North County San Diego and service San Diego and SW Riverside. We have been in the area serving our clients for more than 20 years, and are recommended by several area veterinarians. Be sure to check our reviews on Yelp and Google! Please contact and book us on Petworks. Thank you.

What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?

Be gentle with yourselves and with your dog. Although training and behavior modification can often happen very quickly, it requires a bit more time and patience to modify fear, aggression, anxiety, and behaviors that have been practiced and rehearsed over a long period of time.

Recommended Certifications for Dog Trainers

When choosing a dog trainer, professional certifications are a strong indicator of expertise, experience, and commitment to ethical, science-based methods. Widely recognized credentials include the CPDT-KA or CPDT-KSA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, which demonstrate mastery of modern training techniques, canine behavior, and learning theory. The KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner) highlights trainers skilled in positive reinforcement and clicker training, while the IAABC Certified Dog Trainer credential, recognized internationally, signals advanced knowledge in behavior modification and problem-solving. Membership or certification through the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) further reflects ongoing education and adherence to ethical standards. Many trainers also pursue specialty certifications in areas such as aggression management, behavior modification, or puppy development to address specific challenges.

For pet parents, choosing a certified trainer like Jennifer LaBar, ensures that your dog’s training is grounded in science, safety, and compassion. Asking about a trainer’s credentials is one of the best ways to make a confident, informed choice.
