Before setting the food bowl down, ask your puppy to wait and only give the cue to eat once they’re calm. This reinforces impulse control and good manners. Stay nearby while your puppy eats, and have family members calmly approach and offer treats. This builds comfort with people around food and reduces the risk of resource guarding.
