Therapeutic Support for Life After Pet Loss - Nationwide
I'm a licensed clinical social worker and the owner of Eclectic Balance Counseling Services, offering virtual services with offices in Nyack, New York, as well as Stamford, Fairfield, and Westport, Connecticut.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from New York University in 2003 and hold an Animal Behavior and Conservation certification from Hunter College (2020). In 2021, I completed specialized training in Pet Loss through the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB) and am a Certified Animal-Assisted Intervention Specialist through AAAIP.
My approach uniquely blends traditional therapy with pet loss coaching, creating a compassionate space for individuals navigating the deeply personal and often misunderstood grief of losing a beloved animal companion. I specialize in the human-animal bond and bring years of experience in Animal-Assisted Counseling, including working alongside my therapy dog, Ruby. I also volunteer with animal rescues, provide foster care, and have worked extensively with horses.
Personally, I know the profound joy pets bring and the deep sorrow their absence leaves behind. My household includes two Boston Terriers, a Maltese, and a Sphynx cat—all reminders of the richness animals bring to our lives. I’ve also faced the pain of losing beloved pets, each loss unique and impactful. These personal experiences allow me to walk beside clients in a truly empathetic and informed way.
In our work together, I help individuals move forward, not by letting go, but by integrating the love and memories of their pet into a new chapter. I support clients in honoring their pets’ lives while learning to adapt and redefine life in their absence.
Whether you’re overwhelmed by sadness, guilt, or feel alone in your grief, I’m here to offer support, understanding, and tools to help you heal.
