Hi, I'm Kirsten! I'm an Austin-based pet photographer and the person behind Shutter Hound Pet Photography.

I've been photographing pets professionally since December 2013, and I've worked with just about every personality you can imagine. From energetic dogs and camera-shy cats to birds, alpacas, and other animals, I've learned that no two pets are alike. That's also what makes photographing them so much fun.

My goal is simple: to capture your pet's personality and give you photos that feel like them. Whether that means catching their goofy side, their sweet expressions, or the little quirks that make them who they are, I want you to look at your photos and recognize the pet you know and love.

I take a relaxed, patient approach to every session. Some pets are happy to pose for treats, while others need a little more time to warm up. I'm perfectly willing to roll around in the grass, make ridiculous noises, or do whatever else it takes to get their attention. I've been known to come home from sessions covered in dirt, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I primarily photograph pets outdoors in natural light at a few of my favorite Austin-area parks. I don't offer traditional studio sessions, but I'm happy to discuss location options based on your pet's needs.

After your session, you'll receive an online gallery where you can select your favorite images. You'll also have the option to purchase professional prints and products, because I believe your favorite photos deserve more than a spot on your phone.

As a pet owner myself, I know how much our animals mean to us and how quickly the years seem to pass. Having beautiful photos of them is something you'll never regret.

I've gained valuable experience by working with a variety of pets in different settings. This allowed me to understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with photographing animals. Regular practice helped me develop my own style and techniques.

What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?

The animals are the ones in charge of their sessions. We work with them and do what they want to do. It's usually pretty easy, since you know your pet best and can work alongside me to get the perfect photo!

PetWorks Cancellation Policy

Pet Care Professional's Own Policy
If a pet care professional has published their own cancellation or refund policy, that policy governs the refund of the service amount only. Any PetWorks fees, including the Care Coverage Fee and Pet Care Professional Cancellation Fee, are governed by this PetWorks Cancellation Policy and not by the pet care professional's policy.

Pet Parent Cancels
If the pet care professional has not published their own cancellation policy, the service amount is refundable only if the pet parent cancels at least 72 hours before the scheduled start time of the booking. Cancellations within 72 hours of the scheduled start time are non-refundable for the service amount. The Care Coverage Fee is non-refundable when a pet parent cancels, regardless of timing and regardless of whether the pet care professional has their own cancellation policy.

Pet Parent No-Show
If a pet parent does not show up for a confirmed booking, no refund will be issued for the service amount or the Care Coverage Fee.

Pet Care Professional Cancels
If a pet care professional cancels a confirmed booking, the pet parent receives a 100% refund of everything they paid, including the Care Coverage Fee. The pet care professional receives no payment for the canceled service and is charged a Pet Care Professional Cancellation Fee equal to 10% of the service amount, up to a maximum of $150. PetWorks may collect this fee by deducting it from a future payout through PetWorks or by other means if no future payout is available.

The cancellation rules that apply to a booking, including any pet care professional cancellation policy on file and the Pet Care Professional Cancellation Fee rate, are those that were in effect when the booking was confirmed.
