Positive Reinforcement Dog & Cat Training and Behavior - Millersville, MD

Verified Member since Jun 2026 Verified checkmark

I provide positive reinforcement training, behavior support, enrichment, and massage services for dogs and cats. My goal is to help animals and their people build stronger relationships through trust, communication, and understanding.

Whether you are welcoming a new puppy or kitten, working on everyday manners, addressing behavior concerns, or supporting an animal who may be anxious, sensitive, or recovering from stress, I tailor each session to the individual animal and family's needs.

My training approach focuses on reward-based learning, clear communication, and creating positive experiences that help animals feel safe and confident. I believe learning should be enjoyable and strengthen the bond between pets and the people who love them. I also emphasize agency, choice, and understanding each animal as an individual.

Massage sessions are designed to promote relaxation, comfort, body awareness, and overall wellbeing. For many animals, gentle touch can be a valuable complement to training and behavior work by supporting relaxation and reducing stress.

I am currently pursuing certification as a Whole Energy Body Balance (WEBB) Practitioner. WEBB is a holistic approach that uses observation and gentle touch to support relaxation, body awareness, emotional balance, and overall wellbeing. As part of my training, I practice WEBB with shelter dogs, helping them settle, decompress, and experience positive human interaction during what can be a stressful and uncertain time. This work complements my training, behavior, and massage services by supporting each animal's emotional and physical wellbeing and recognizing the important connection between behavior, the body, and the nervous system.

Services may include puppy and kitten foundations, basic manners, loose leash walking, enrichment, behavior coaching, confidence building, relaxation support, and massage for dogs and cats.

I work with both dogs and cats because every animal deserves compassionate, individualized support that respects their needs, preferences, and unique personality. Together, we'll create practical, humane solutions that strengthen your bond and help your animal thrive.

How did you hone your craft?

My skills have been developed through extensive continuing education, hands-on experience, and mentorship with respected professionals in the field. I continue to expand my knowledge through workshops, certificate programs, internships, and ongoing study, including training with Pat Miller and an internship under CPDT-KA mentor Jody Broughton. My own German Shepherd also shaped my path. After being attacked by loose dogs, she developed fear and reactivity, leading me to explore not only positive reinforcement training and behavior modification, but also complementary approaches that support an animal's emotional wellbeing. This experience led me to complete a certificate program in canine massage and to pursue certification as a Whole Energy Body Balance (WEBB) Practitioner, which is currently in progress. Today, I combine evidence-based, reward-based training with a whole-animal perspective, helping dogs, cats, and their people build confidence, strengthen relationships, and enjoy life together.

What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?

Go slower than you think you need to. Many behavior challenges improve when we stop rushing, give our animals time to process, and pay attention to what they're communicating through their body language. Look for opportunities to create moments of calm, especially during times of excitement or stress. Whether you're introducing a new skill, offering gentle touch, or simply taking a quiet pause together, those moments build trust and help your pet feel safe enough to learn. Training isn't just about teaching behaviors—it's about strengthening your relationship.

What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!

I care just as much about the people as I do the animals. Living with a pet who is struggling can be stressful, frustrating, and sometimes even isolating. My goal is to support both ends of the leash (or the other side of the cat carrier!) with compassion, practical guidance, and encouragement. When people feel understood and supported, they're better able to help their animals succeed—and that's where lasting change happens.
