Pet Paintings and Drawings - Etsy Portrait Artist - Nationwide
Always remember your pet by ordering your pet portrait. Turn your pet photos into a drawing or painting. My portraits are 100% hand-drawn and painted. I use the finest materials, so your portrait last.
Why do I paint pet portraits? I love animals, and I love art, so I have combined my two passions in one. I love working on pet portraits. I am a pet owner, and I know how pets are part of the family. When someone orders a pet portrait, I know that person cares about their pet, and I know that my artwork will put a smile on someone's face or bring a happy memory to their hearts.
How long will it take for my portrait to be ready? For drawings, it could be a few days to a week. It all depends on the size and medium. For acrylic paintings, turn around 1 or 2 weeks after an order is placed. It all depends on size and how many people are in the picture. For oils, it might take a little bit more since I have to wait until it dries. Before placing the order, I will let you know the estimated time. It also depends on how many commissions I am working on at the time you place the order. Please let me know by what day you need them.
What if I want to order a portrait that has more than two pet on it? Yes, you can order a portrait with more than two pets. For more than two subjects, 50% off every additional subject within the same painting.
Can I combine photos in one portrait? YES. If you want me to combine photos into one oil painting, we will.
Are these handmade portraits? YES. I draw them or paint them myself.
What type of files do you accept for the photographs? Prints or digital. I can accept photographs in a number of popular formats (.jpeg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .tiff).The artwork will depend on the quality of the picture you send. The better the quality of the image, the more detail the artwork will show. Try to pick the pictures with the best light.
How do I place an order? Please email me and tell me what kind of portrait you want. Once we have agreed on medium, size, # of pets, and any add-ons, I send you an email invoice via Pay Pal, and you pay for the portrait online. Once you have paid for the portrait, I start working on your portrait.
Do I need to put a deposit? YES. For me to start on your portrait, I request a 50% deposit and at delivery the remaining 50%.
Do I need to pick it up the portrait, or can you ship the portrait? You are welcome to pick up the artwork from the studio. But if you don't live near the studio, I can ship the artwork too. If you want the artwork to be shipped, please send me the complete address before placing the order so I can give you an estimate on shipping cost.
Can you ship portraits to everywhere in the USA? I can ship portraits to all the USA, but you are responsible for shipping cost and packaging, and those must be paid ahead of time when placing the order.
Is the portrait frame? No. All portrait prices are for unframed work. I am not responsible for framing.
Do you do commissions for other portraits that aren't animals? Yes, I do portraits of people, houses, cars, boats, etc. Send me the idea of your project, and I will tell you if I can do it or not.
On what materials are oil and acrylic painted? Oil portrait paintings are done on a white canvas. Pastel portrait paintings, charcoal portraits, colored pencil portraits are all done on paper. For all portrait drawings done on paper, you will need to frame them under glass.
Does the price include shipping or taxes? No. If you want the artwork to be shipped, let me know, and I will give a quote for that. If you are in the state of Florida or I need to mail to and address in Florida, then you will need to pay sales taxes.
Please contact and book me on Petworks. Thank you.

🌟 About Vanessa Montenegro
Vanessa is a professional pet portrait artist based in Tampa, FL, serving clients locally and nationwide through PetWorks. With a passion for capturing the personality, energy, and spirit of animal companions, Vanessa creates handcrafted portraits that go far beyond what a photograph can offer — each one a genuine one-of-a-kind work of art, made from your favorite photo and tailored to your exact vision. Vanessa is a recognized and top-rated artist on PetWorks, trusted by pet owners across the country to deliver portraits that are cherished for a lifetime.
What to Expect When Working with Vanessa
Commissioning a portrait with Vanessa is a personal, collaborative experience from start to finish. It begins with a conversation — you'll share your favorite photos of your pet, discuss the style and medium that appeals to you, and talk through any specific ideas or requests you have in mind. Vanessa takes the time to understand not just what your pet looks like, but who they are — their character, their quirks, and the qualities that make them yours.
From there, Vanessa gets to work. Most artists on PetWorks share progress photos along the way, giving you the opportunity to provide feedback and request adjustments before the portrait is complete. Once you're happy with the result, your finished portrait is shipped directly to you or delivered as a digital file — depending on the medium and your preference. Most portraits are completed within 2–6 weeks, though timelines vary by medium, complexity, and the artist's current schedule. Always confirm turnaround with Vanessa before booking, especially if you're working toward a gift deadline.

On Vanessa Montenegro's listing page, use 'Send Message' or 'Get Custom Quote' or 'Book Now' to start a conversation about your commission. Vanessa will discuss your vision, answer any questions, and send you a personalized quote through the PetWorks inbox — because the right artist fit matters, and taking a few minutes to correspond before committing is always worth it.
When you're ready, payment is handled securely through PetWorks — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Affirm, Link, or Klarna. Care Coverage at checkout gives you access to PetWorks' live Concierge team, full refunds if a booking is canceled through no fault of yours, and help resolving any issues along the way — so you can focus on your portrait with complete peace of mind.
Tips for a Great Portrait
Getting the most out of your commission starts with good reference photos. Clear, well-lit shots taken at your pet's eye level work best — natural light is your friend, and flash-heavy photos tend to flatten features and wash out color. Capture a few different expressions and angles if you can: a close-up of the face, a relaxed resting shot, and a playful or characteristic pose gives your artist the most to work with.
Beyond photos, the more you can share about your pet's personality the better. Is your dog goofy and energetic, or calm and dignified? Does your cat have a signature expression? The small details you share help Vanessa bring genuine character to the portrait rather than simply reproducing a likeness. If you have a specific style, background, or size in mind, mention it upfront — most artists welcome creative direction and will work with you to bring your vision to life.
As a general guide, pet portrait commissions in the US typically range from $75–$200 for small portraits, $200–$500 for medium, and $500–$1,200 or more for large or multi-pet works. Browse Vanessa's pricing packages above for specific rates.
