Lazybones Private Dog Training - Glocester, RI

Member since Dec 2021

Hello, and welcome to LazyBones Dog Training!

Thank you for taking the time to read this brief introduction. I am a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, one of the few in Rhode Island certified by both the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) and the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). I am also a Family Paws Parent Educator and a Family Dog Mediator.

In addition to private behavior consulting and training therapy dogs, I have worked with shelters and rescue organizations for years. This experience has allowed me to help a wide variety of dogs with all types of behavior problems. Seeing the ways that dogs can go wrong, I know how to prevent many problems from developing in the first place. Especially with puppies and new rescue dogs, preventing behavior problems can save people lots of heartache later.

But what if your dog already has behavior issues like excessive barking, jumping on visitors, or snapping at your children? I can help with these as well. Usually, a little training can make a huge difference in the lives of both people and their dogs.

I provide private, in-home training, using only dog-friendly and human- friendly methods. I am a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through IAABC and CCPDT. I also am a Family Paws Parent Educator and Family Dog Mediator. Please contact and book me on Petworks. Thank you.

Recommended Certifications for Dog Trainers

When choosing a dog trainer, professional certifications are a strong indicator of expertise, experience, and commitment to ethical, science-based methods. Widely recognized credentials include the CPDT-KA or CPDT-KSA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, which demonstrate mastery of modern training techniques, canine behavior, and learning theory. The KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner) highlights trainers skilled in positive reinforcement and clicker training, while the IAABC Certified Dog Trainer credential, recognized internationally, signals advanced knowledge in behavior modification and problem-solving. Membership or certification through the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) further reflects ongoing education and adherence to ethical standards. Many trainers also pursue specialty certifications in areas such as aggression management, behavior modification, or puppy development to address specific challenges.

For pet parents, choosing a certified trainer like Patricia Inman, ensures that your dog’s training is grounded in science, safety, and compassion. Asking about a trainer’s credentials is one of the best ways to make a confident, informed choice.
