Guiseppi's - Art in Nature - Pet Portrait Artist - Nationwide

Remember your pet with a hand created pet portrait. I will turn your pet photo into an original colored pencil piece of art. All portraits are hand-drawn and highly detailed from your photo(s). I use the best materials available, and strive to create a piece that will last for many years.

I love photography, art and animals, so I have combined my passions. I'm a pet owner, and I know how pets are part of the family. When someone orders a pet portrait, I know that person cares about their pet, and I know that my artwork will put a smile on someone's face and a lasting memory.

It will usually take 6-8 weeks to complete a drawing once the details and reference photo(s) are agreed upon and received. It will also depend on the size of the piece. Before placing the order, I will let you know the estimated time. It also depends on how many commissions I am working on at the time you place the order.

I prefer to create single pet portraits starting at $500, but will do two or three within the same portrait. First additional pet will be $200, third an additional $100, again that's within the same piece).

I work from my print of your digital files. The artwork will depend on the quality of the image file that you send. The better the size and quality of the image, the more detail the artwork will show. Try to pick the pictures with the best light, and preferably a close-up of their face.

To place an order, please email me and tell me what kind of portrait you want. Once we have agreed upon the size, # of pets, I'll send you an email invoice via Pay Pal, and you pay for the portrait online. Once you have paid for the portrait, I start working on your portrait.

Do I need to put a deposit? YES. For me to start on your portrait, I request a 50% deposit and at delivery the remaining 50%.

Do I need to pick up the portrait, or can you ship the portrait? You are welcome to pick up the artwork. But if you don't live near, I can also ship the artwork. If you want the artwork to be shipped, please send me the complete address before placing the order so I can give you an estimate on shipping cost. If you are in the state of Florida or I need to mail to and address in Florida, then you will need to pay sales taxes.

You are responsible for shipping cost and packaging, and those must be paid ahead of time when placing the order.

Is the portrait framed and matted? No, but at additional costs it can be, depending on the shipping, packaging and insurance fees.

Do you do commissions for other portraits that aren't animals? Yes, I can do portraits of houses, cars, and motorcycles. Send me the idea of your project, and I will tell you if I can do it or not.

Colored pencil portraits are all done on acid free paper. You will need to frame them under UV acrylic, and keep them out of direct sunlight.

Please contact me through Petworks. Have a great day!

John is a pet portrait artist based in Lakeland, Florida, serving clients locally in Polk County and nationwide through PetWorks, one of the leading platforms for finding pet portrait artists across the United States. Working with John: What to Expect

Commissioning a portrait with John is a personal, collaborative experience from start to finish. It begins with a conversation — you'll share your favorite photos of your pet, discuss the style and medium that appeals to you, and talk through any specific ideas or requests you have in mind.

John takes the time to understand not just what your pet looks like, but who they are — their character, their quirks, and the qualities that make them yours.

From there, John gets to work. Most pet portrait artists on PetWorks share progress photos along the way, giving you the opportunity to provide feedback and request adjustments before the portrait is complete. Once you're happy with the result, your finished portrait is shipped directly to you or delivered as a digital file — depending on the medium and your preference. Most portraits are completed within 2–6 weeks, though timelines vary by medium, complexity, and the artist's current schedule. Always confirm turnaround with John before booking, especially if you're working toward a gift deadline.

Tips for a Great Portrait

Getting the most out of your commission starts with good reference photos. Clear, well-lit shots taken at your pet's eye level work best. Natural light is your friend, and flash-heavy photos tend to flatten features and wash out color. Capture a few different expressions and angles if you can: a close-up of the face, a relaxed resting shot, and a playful or characteristic pose gives your pet portrait artist the most to work with.

Beyond photos, the more you can share about your pet's personality the better. Is your dog goofy and energetic, or calm and dignified? Does your cat have a signature expression? The small details you share help John bring genuine character to the portrait rather than simply reproducing a likeness. If you have a specific style, background, or size in mind, mention it upfront — most pet portrait artists welcome creative direction and will work with you to bring your vision to life.
As a general guide, pet portrait artist commissions in the US typically range from $75–$200 for small portraits, $200–$500 for medium, and $500–$1,200 or more for large or multi-pet works. Browse John's pricing packages above for specific rates.
