How did you hone your craft?
I built my skills through a combination of veterinary and physiotherapy degrees in Brazil (since 2009–2011), followed by more than a decade working directly in small animal rehabilitation and integrative therapies, including hands-on clinical practice with orthopedic, neurologic, and chronic pain cases. I further honed my craft through postgraduate training in acupuncture and multiple continuing education courses in canine and equine rehabilitation techniques. Since moving to the U.S., I’ve continued refining my approach through advanced study, professional associations, and daily hands-on work as an Animal Wellness Practitioner focused on mobility, recovery, and quality of life.
What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?
Pay attention to small changes early—subtle shifts in posture, energy, or movement are often the first signs that something is not right. The earlier you address discomfort or mobility issues, the faster and more effective the recovery tends to be. Also, consistency matters more than intensity: short, regular movement, proper weight management, and a calm, predictable routine usually make a bigger difference than occasional “big efforts.” Finally, always work with patience and clear communication—animals respond best when they feel safe, understood, and not rushed.
What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!
What I want pet parents to know is that I treat every animal as if they were part of my own family—including my Labrador, Manu, who is 15 years old and lives in Brazil. Right now, she needs me more than ever, but I am not there to personally help her. Fortunately, she is being cared for by other very competent professionals back home, and I’m deeply grateful for that. That experience constantly reminds me of the responsibility and emotional connection we have with every patient. Because of Manu, I don’t see animals as “cases”—I see them as family. My focus is not just on techniques or therapies, but on improving comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life in a respectful and compassionate way.
