Dog Training, Puppy Training, Pet sitting & Boarding - New York, NY

Member since Sep 2020

Basic obedience training. Puppy Training. Puppy Socialization class/exercise. Happy pups = Happy paw-rents! I also offer Pet sits and Boarding. I truly love what I do! Been in business since 2017.

I'm pursuing my CPDT-KA certification while placing great emphasis on the effectiveness of positive reinforcement. My upbringing instilled a deep-rooted passion for rescuing and fostering animals alongside my family. This drive led me to volunteer at a small dog rescue organization in Spain from the age of 16. Upon relocating to New York City in 2018, I continued my volunteer work with the Animal Care Center of NYC, staying committed to aiding sheltered dogs. A devoted animal enthusiast, I proudly care for my rescued Pit-Sharpei mix, Michael.

I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to assist you and your furry companion in nurturing a stronger bond through training!

My pet care services cater to the Lower to Upper West Side and Midtown East up through the Upper East Side.

Contact and book me through Petworks today. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

Recommended Certifications for Dog Trainers

When choosing a dog trainer, professional certifications are a strong indicator of expertise, experience, and commitment to ethical, science-based methods. Widely recognized credentials include the CPDT-KA or CPDT-KSA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, which demonstrate mastery of modern training techniques, canine behavior, and learning theory. The KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner) highlights trainers skilled in positive reinforcement and clicker training, while the IAABC Certified Dog Trainer credential, recognized internationally, signals advanced knowledge in behavior modification and problem-solving. Membership or certification through the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) further reflects ongoing education and adherence to ethical standards. Many trainers also pursue specialty certifications in areas such as aggression management, behavior modification, or puppy development to address specific challenges.

For pet parents, choosing a certified trainer like Genevieve Matos, ensures that your dog’s training is grounded in science, safety, and compassion. Asking about a trainer’s credentials is one of the best ways to make a confident, informed choice.
