Does your dog’s behavior leave you feeling stressed, embarrassed, or overwhelmed? You’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I help dog parents like you create calm, connection, and confidence with their pups through a compassionate and science-backed approach.

I’m Ashley, the trainer and coach behind Co-Regulated K9s. For over 15 years, I’ve worked with dogs of all ages, breeds, and backgrounds, alongside 13 years in the psychology and mental health field. My unique background allows me to understand not just the dog’s behavior, but also the human experience that goes along with it. Because let’s face it: our dogs can push our buttons, trigger our emotions, and even make us doubt ourselves. That’s why my method focuses on co-regulation—teaching both you and your dog how to regulate emotions, build trust, and communicate more effectively.

Unlike cookie-cutter obedience programs, I don’t believe in controlling dogs into submission or ignoring their needs. Instead, I focus on helping you and your pup work together, creating resilience, predictability, and joy in everyday life. Whether your dog struggles with reactivity, anxiety, or big feelings that seem hard to handle, I’ll guide you step by step with tools you can actually use in real life—not just in a training session.

I offer both in-person coaching in San Diego and online training for dog parents anywhere. No matter the format, sessions are personalized to your goals and your dog’s unique personality. Together, we’ll tackle challenges like:

Reactivity on walks

Separation anxiety

Overexcitement or barking

Fearful or anxious behaviors

Strengthening communication and focus

My clients often come to me feeling defeated, but they leave with a sense of relief, hope, and confidence in their ability to support their dogs. Many share that the process not only transformed their dog’s behavior, but also shifted their own mindset—making daily life feel lighter, calmer, and more enjoyable.

Here’s what sets Co-Regulated K9s apart:

Experience that bridges dogs and humans – My psychology background and professional training certifications give me a holistic perspective.

Compassionate coaching – I meet you where you are, without judgment.

A focus on relationships – Behavior improves when the bond improves.

Practical, doable steps – Strategies that fit your lifestyle, not just theory.

Training with me isn’t about chasing perfection—it’s about progress, connection, and helping your dog thrive as the beloved family member they are.

So if you’re ready to:
✔ Reduce stress and frustration
✔ Better understand your dog’s needs
✔ Build calm and confidence together
✔ Finally enjoy life with your pup again

…I’d love to work with you. Let’s take the first step toward the relationship you’ve always wanted with your dog.

Reach out today to schedule a session—I can’t wait to meet you and your pup!

Ashley has been a game changer for us! Our pup, Moose, is a boy with big feelings about some dogs, bikes, skateboards, trucks, pretty much anything that is on wheels. Before we started our training journey with Ashley, Moose would lunge and bark at his triggers pretty intensely. We also could tell that Moose was not enjoying his outings since he was always scanning for “scary” things. After a month of day training with Ashley, we took Moose for a walk in this new park that is busy with dogs, kids, and people and moose listened to us the whole time! He didn’t have a single reaction and there was this loud motorbike that zoomed past us and moose was about to react but decided to look to us for direction. Ashley took her time in understanding Moose’s personality and came up with a plan that was best for him. Along with training Moose, she is teaching us skills to build a stronger bond with him on leash. Also, whenever we tell Moose that Miss. Ashley is coming, he gets so excited and waits by the door:) - San Diego, CA - December 2025

Ashley is an amazing dog trainer. She helped our new puppy to walk on a leash without pulling. She also helped with his reactivity and sensitivity. It has been such a huge blessing to work with her. She went above and beyond for our family. I can’t recommend her enough. - August 2025 - San Diego, CA

Working with Ashley at Co‑Regulated K‑9s has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for me and my dog. I came in feeling overwhelmed and unsure how to help my reactive pup, but Ashley completely changed that. She’s not just a certified dog trainer...she’s incredibly thoughtful, kind, and actually gets what it’s like to have a dog who struggles. Her trauma-informed, evidence-based, and positive training approach made both me and my dog feel safe, understood, and supported. What really stood out is how much she focuses on the human side too. Ashley helped me understand my dog’s emotions and behavior in a way no one else has. It’s not just about obedience. It’s about building a better relationship. And it works! My dog is calmer, more confident, and our walks are no longer stressful. - San Diego, CA - September 2025

When choosing a dog trainer, professional certifications are a strong indicator of expertise, experience, and commitment to ethical, science-based methods. Widely recognized credentials include the CPDT-KA or CPDT-KSA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, which demonstrate mastery of modern training techniques, canine behavior, and learning theory. The KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner) highlights trainers skilled in positive reinforcement and clicker training, while the IAABC Certified Dog Trainer credential, recognized internationally, signals advanced knowledge in behavior modification and problem-solving. Membership or certification through the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) further reflects ongoing education and adherence to ethical standards. Many trainers also pursue specialty certifications in areas such as aggression management, behavior modification, or puppy development to address specific challenges.

For pet parents, choosing a certified trainer like Ashley Cipolletti, ensures that your dog’s training is grounded in science, safety, and compassion. Asking about a trainer’s credentials is one of the best ways to make a confident, informed choice.
