Chaplain for Pet Bereavement and People Compassion - Nationwide
I'm an endorsed chaplain and have served as a chaplain for 21 years mostly working with Veterans. I know the stress, pain, and final cost of working full time and caring for those who have lost their best friend in a pet. I have ministered to over 1000 patients and families in difficult times and now have a 10-year old "classic puppy" lab that I couldn't love more. I know the pain of losing a pet and am eager to offer my decades of pastoral skills to help you navigate the real grief and celebration of life that comes with the transition of a pet from this world to the next. I offer online and in-person counsel and "life review" as well as pet funeral services when requested. In the VA we have a saying that "no one dies alone." And no one should grieve and celebrate the life of a pet alone either. I want to help.- Chaplain Steve

💙 There are moments in the grief process when what you need most is simply to be heard by someone who truly understands — someone who knows that the loss of a pet is not a small thing, that the silence in the home is real, and that what you are carrying deserves the same compassion and attention as any profound loss. That is what Steve offers.
What Steve Can Help You With
Pet loss grief arrives differently for everyone — and Steve works with each client according to where they are in their own process, without a fixed agenda or a predetermined timeline. Sessions with Steve typically address processing the immediate emotional aftermath of losing a pet, navigating anticipatory grief for those preparing to say goodbye to an aging or seriously ill companion, working through guilt and doubt around end-of-life decisions including euthanasia, finding meaningful and personal ways to honor your pet's memory, adjusting to a daily routine that has been fundamentally altered by their absence, and helping other family members — including children and surviving pets — move through the loss in their own way. If you are not sure exactly what you need, that is completely normal. Steve's first session is designed to help you find that out together.
