WALKS:
1 hour long walk (minimum is half an hour) in your neighborhood and/or local park. Walking routes are varied, exposing your dog to new sights & smells.

Positive reinforcement methods using food and/or treats, praise and petting to reinforce and teach basic obedience skills such as polite leash walking, simple commands such as sit, stay, leave it & come. Employs positive, science-based training methods to correct behaviors such as reactivity to other dogs, resource guarding (protectiveness over things such as food, toys), and building confidence in fearful dogs.

Benefits are:
Peace of mind knowing your dog is being cared for by a certified professional dog-walker and graduate of the Dogbiz Dog Walking Academy. Your dog’s safety is my priority.
Channels your dog’s energy in a beneficial manner preventing mischief and destructive behaviors while you’re away.
Helps prevent loneliness and boredom. Come home to a dog that is calm, happy, and better behaved. A tired dog is a good dog!

PET SITTING SERVICES:
Overnight visits with dogs; daily visits or overnight with cats, and other small animals. I can administer medicines, do basic grooming.
Forget the stress of leaving your pet in cramped quarters in a cage at the vet clinic or in a crowded kennel. In-home pet sitting allows your pet to maintain her normal routine while you’re gone, alleviating stress for both of you. Your pet will receive the individual attention she deserves.

What year did you begin serving pets?

2012 - and I've had pets my whole life

How did you hone your craft?

I've had pets since childhood; mostly dogs and cats. I started walking dogs in 2012, and it grew, and then I wanted to learn about dog behavior/body language, and First Aid, etc. so took an intensive hands-on class at Dogtec (now Dogbiz) Dog Walking Academy, and became a certified dog-walker and pet-sitter.

What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?

Provide fresh healthy food, and lots of exercise and fresh air, and attention to your pet. Their lives are short so make them the best. Too many pet owners just let out dogs for a short walk in the yard, or even put down wee pads rather than take them outside - this is not healthy for a dog. Cats should not be allowed outside at all as there are too many dangers. Pets are often more comfortable in their own home; so try a professional pet sitter rather than a kennel or a family member who may not give your pet all their attention. Daily visits are important because if something happened to your pet, such as a urinary blockage or an injury in the home, there will be no one there to help them. Also, keeping a large dog and small dog together is risky due to what is called "prey drive" - be careful at dog runs as some people don't watch their pets and fights break out.
