Every portrait takes 8-10 hours of drawing time. I do take breaks so the process happens over a period of days to a week to complete one portrait. I start in my wood-shop by cutting, routing the keyhole slot, sanding and branding the wood. I draw at my kitchen table in between meal times because my painting studio is too messy! I am a full time artist and small business owner and have many projects going on at once. I send one progress shot before completion for approval. I don’t usually send more progress shots because it interrupts the workflow but each portrait undergoes strict review by a panel of art critics, my 5 year old daughter and husband. Once sealed with everyone’s approval and few layers of protective coating, I can ship free courtesy USPS priority.
