Reiki, which means "spiritual energy," is a system of meditation and healing created by Mikao Usui in 1922 Japan. The Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki is a meditation-based hands-free approach created by Kathleen Prasad that respects the choices and comfort of animals and honors them as our wise teachers and healers. For both people and pets, the benefits of this method can include the support of health and well-being, deep relaxation and stress relief, reduction of pain, and support during the dying process.

Animal Reiki is not a substitute for medical diagnosis and treatment.

Meditation Education is owned by Dr. Alice Kay Lovelace, M.Div., D.Min., a Reiki teacher/practitioner specializing in working with animals and their human companions. She is not a veterinarian. She has been trained and certified by Kathleen Prasad in the Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki. Alice is a teacher member of the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA) and an Animal Reiki Source Teacher of Excellence in 2020, 2021, and 2022. She began practicing Reiki in 2004 and Animal Reiki in 2015. She is an ordained United Methodist pastor, a certified Companion Animal End-of-Life Doula, and certified Pet Loss Grief Specialist.

Dr. Alice Kay is a certified animal reiki healer based in Dayton, OH, offering virtual sessions to pet parents and their animals nationwide. With a personalized, animal-led approach to every session, Dr. Alice Kay works with cats, dogs, horses, birds, and other animal companions — helping them find calm, balance, and relief from the physical and emotional challenges that affect their quality of life. The best animal reiki practitioners don't just offer energy work — they take time to understand your pet's full history, temperament, and specific needs before a session begins. Dr. Alice Kay brings that philosophy to every booking, working with you to ensure each session is as effective and comfortable as possible for your animal companion.

What Dr. Alice Kay Can Help With

Dr. Alice Kay works with pets across a wide range of physical and emotional challenges. Anxiety, fearfulness, and stress-related behaviors are among the most common reasons pet parents seek out a certified healer — and gentle energy work can produce meaningful, lasting calm even in highly reactive or emotionally overwhelmed animals. For aging pets managing chronic pain, reduced vitality, or the challenges of illness, reiki offers a non-invasive way to support comfort and quality of life alongside traditional veterinary care.

Dr. Alice Kay also works with rescue animals and recently rehomed pets — helping them release emotional imprints from difficult past experiences and settle more fully into their new environment. For pets recovering from surgery or injury, reiki can complement the rehabilitation process by supporting the body's natural healing response and reducing stress during recovery. And for families navigating end-of-life transitions, Dr. Alice Kay provides gentle, compassionate support — offering comfort and energetic balance for both the animal and the people who love them.
