Customer Reviews
I highly recommend Kate for behavior consultation and/or dog training. She is by far the best I’ve experienced in the past. She is very intuitive, patient, and easy to work with. Her training is personalized according to the dog’s personality, their problems and behavior, as well as considering the dog owners home environment, needs and lifestyle. - February 2026
- Winnie BKate was so thorough, listening to every detail about my dog, and gave me practical, extremely effective tools for working with my (once) reactive dog.
I had my reservations about dog training by phone but my session with Kate was amazing! I don't know what happened but my dog shifted from out of control reactive to just alert and calm. Kate gives people the tools and mindset that supports a harmonious relationship with their dogs, making the human an effective and calm leader. Everybody wins! I highly recommend Kate for training that's got that "something extra." My dog and I are both happier. Oh! I should mention she's a 120 lb Akbash! Known for their independent thinking and guardian instincts. A super-sized reactivity issue, and Kate gave me the perfect understanding and tools.
Kate is patient and calm with my overly anxious dog. Not only has Kate helped with my dog, Phoebe, but she has helped me understand my dog’s behavior so I can work more effectively on my own with my dog. I highly recommend Kate and her years of experience with challenging dogs. Phoebe loves her!!
- Stephanie PWe inherited a 4 year old border collie mix when my MIL went to live in an assisted living facility. She had already been returned 3 times to the shelter and had huge amounts of anxiety. She and our 1 year old Great Pyrenees started getting into fights. To the point both had had stitches. Kate stepped in less than 6 month later when we were keeping them separated 24/7 and in 4 at home sessions we had the tools we needed to fix the issues and start creating a bond both with our new collie and them together. Now 15 months after her first visit they are sisters, and I couldn't be more grateful.
- Crystal COur dog Kona is so sweet but became stressed, especially after we brought our human baby into the home. Kate has been such a gift to us. She showed us fun, simple ways to help him feel calmer, and it’s made such a huge difference. Kona is so much more at ease now, even with our little one moving all around. The change has been incredible, and we’re truly grateful we found her. If everyone could have the chance to work with Kate, I’d want that for them, she’s absolutely amazing!

Recommended Certifications for Dog Trainers
When choosing a dog trainer, professional certifications are a strong indicator of expertise, experience, and commitment to ethical, science-based methods. Widely recognized credentials include the CPDT-KA or CPDT-KSA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, which demonstrate mastery of modern training techniques, canine behavior, and learning theory. The KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner) highlights trainers skilled in positive reinforcement and clicker training, while the IAABC Certified Dog Trainer credential, recognized internationally, signals advanced knowledge in behavior modification and problem-solving. Membership or certification through the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) further reflects ongoing education and adherence to ethical standards. Many trainers also pursue specialty certifications in areas such as aggression management, behavior modification, or puppy development to address specific challenges.
For pet parents, choosing a certified trainer like Caitlin Coberly, ensures that your dog’s training is grounded in science, safety, and compassion. Asking about a trainer’s credentials is one of the best ways to make a confident, informed choice.
