As an Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor for over twenty years, I have helped many people move through the unique grief and heartache of losing a beloved pet.

As an animal lover, I recognize the deep bond that is possible between humans and animals. I have experienced the heartache and despair when this bond is broken by a pet’s death. The sadness and overwhelming emptiness you experience is difficult to face alone.

Trained as a pet loss counselor by Dr. Wallace Sife, founder of the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement, I have the professional training and personal experience with pet loss to help support you through the grieving and healing process.

As an art therapist, I offer the unique opportunity for you to use art therapy as a way to move through your grief. In times of pain and despair there is an innate human propensity to create and rebuild that which has been lost. The restorative and healing powers of the creative process are expansive. No art experience is necessary. Using art is entirely optional, but it is available if you choose.

Sometimes the loss of a pet can trigger feelings related to unresolved losses or traumas from the past. As a trained psychotherapist, I can help you process your experience and get to the root of what is causing you distress. I can offer more in depth therapy to folks based in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.

How did you hone your craft?

After my beloved cat, Yoda, died in 2007, I was devastated. For seventeen years she had been my baby, my sister, my best friend. I couldn't imagine a life without her. In my grief, I found myself searching for pet loss resources and at the time there was not a lot to be found. As a new therapist, I felt pulled to add pet loss to my offerings as it seemed like there was a real need and so many people (including myself) were enduring their grief in solitude and silence. I decided to take Dr. Wallace Sife's Pet Loss Counseling course from the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement. That was the start of my pet loss counseling journey. I have a Masters in Art Therapy from New York University, and hold therapy licenses in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I have done post-graduate training in various trauma-informed psychotherapy approaches including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS.) 

What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!

Your pain is valid and real. Our culture does not validate the grief from losing a pet the way it should and that only makes navigating a pet loss more difficult. I deeply recognize the human animal bond and the tremendous pain that comes when this bond is broken. I would be honored to help support you through your loss and invite you to be gentle with yourself. It's not an easy loss to face.

PetWorks Cancellation Policy

Pet Care Professional's Own Policy
If a pet care professional has published their own cancellation or refund policy, that policy governs the refund of the service amount only. Any PetWorks fees, including the Care Coverage Fee and Pet Care Professional Cancellation Fee, are governed by this PetWorks Cancellation Policy and not by the pet care professional's policy.

Pet Parent Cancels
If the pet care professional has not published their own cancellation policy, the service amount is refundable only if the pet parent cancels at least 72 hours before the scheduled start time of the booking. Cancellations within 72 hours of the scheduled start time are non-refundable for the service amount. The Care Coverage Fee is non-refundable when a pet parent cancels, regardless of timing and regardless of whether the pet care professional has their own cancellation policy.

Pet Parent No-Show
If a pet parent does not show up for a confirmed booking, no refund will be issued for the service amount or the Care Coverage Fee.

Pet Care Professional Cancels
If a pet care professional cancels a confirmed booking, the pet parent receives a 100% refund of everything they paid, including the Care Coverage Fee. The pet care professional receives no payment for the canceled service and is charged a Pet Care Professional Cancellation Fee equal to 10% of the service amount, up to a maximum of $150. PetWorks may collect this fee by deducting it from a future payout through PetWorks or by other means if no future payout is available.

Policy in Effect at Booking
The cancellation rules that apply to a booking, including any pet care professional cancellation policy on file and the Pet Care Professional Cancellation Fee rate, are those that were in effect when the booking was confirmed.
