What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?
Treat animals with kindness and respect. Understand that if they're not understanding something you're trying to teach them, they're not being stubborn! You are likely leaving some information that they need out, not being consistent, or jumping too many steps ahead.
What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!
You can have great training and behavior modification results using gentle, positive methods. I will help you put yourself in your pet's shoes and understand why they are behaving the way they are, how to change that behavior for a more harmonious household, and a happier pet!

Customer Reviews
Cherie was wonderful and really put our mind at ease about our plan to introduce our new cat to our current one!
- Sara MPet Pro's Response:
Sara was well prepared for our consultation and even sent me an email detailing her plans for a cat to cat introduction. She was also friendly and essy to talk to. I'd be happy to work with her again!
- Cherie MascisCherie was helpful in providing me with insight and feedback concerning all of my questions. It was good to talk through the topics at hand with someone who was experienced with cat introductions given I have received a lot of criticism from multiple friends and family members (even some vet techs at our vet's office) for not speeding up the introduction process between the two. Thank you for your time and patience and for talking through the complexities of the situation to give me a better idea of how to move forward and confirm whether we are "on the right track" regarding "next steps".

- Alison B⭐ Work One-on-One with Cherie Mascis — Certified Animal Behaviorist
If your pet is struggling with anxiety, aggression, reactivity, or other complex behavioral challenges, Cherie offers private virtual consultations for pet parents in Columbus, Polk County, and surrounding areas including Tryon, Landrum, Columbus, Rutherfordton, Inman, Tryon, Forest City, Boiling Springs, Spindale, Duncan. Because sessions are conducted entirely online, your pet stays in their natural environment — the exact place where most problem behaviors occur — giving Cherie a clearer, more accurate picture of what's really going on.
Why a Behavioral Consultation Is Different
A general pet trainer focuses on commands and obedience. Cherie goes deeper — identifying and addressing the root cause of complex behaviors rooted in fear, anxiety, or trauma. This isn't basic training. It's a personalized, science-based plan built around your pet's specific history, triggers, and needs. If training alone hasn't worked, a behavioral consultation could be the turning point.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be located in Columbus to work with Cherie?
No. Sessions are conducted entirely online, so you can book from anywhere in North Carolina or across the country.
Are virtual sessions as effective as in-person visits? In many cases, yes — and often more so. Pets tend to show their true behaviors at home rather than in a clinic or with a stranger present. A virtual session gives Cherie a more accurate window into your pet's world.
What do I need for a virtual session? Just a smartphone, tablet, or laptop with a camera and a stable internet connection.
❤️ Behind every anxious or reactive pet is an animal that deserves to feel safe — and an owner who deserves to feel hopeful again. Take the first step toward a more peaceful home and book a consultation with Cherie today.
