We are temporarily in Pahrump and needed a dog sitter for our six year old German Shepherd. He is a special needs dog with complex behavioral issues and doesn't do well in traditional boarding settings. Rebecca at Gold Star came highly recommended to us by the German Shepherd Club of Southern Nevada, and we are nothing short of thrilled about the care she gave our dog. Nobody else has ever come close. She is not a traditional boarding center but rather takes dogs into her home on a case-by-case basis. She kindly allowed us to check out her home, yard and introduce our dog to her Dobie before we said "yes" to boarding there. After meeting her and spending time in her home we knew she could offer him the right care, and she absolutely did. Rebecca understands the needs of large, active, high-strung intelligent dogs and she understands how to manage them with a pack leader attitude that says "I'm in charge." Our Wyatt understood that from the get go, and was even calm around her during a thunderstorm that happened while we were away -- he never does that with us! Our dog spent two nights there, and when we came back he was happy, relaxed and calmer than we'd ever seen him after boarding. We knew right then we made the right choice. If you're looking for training or boarding, Rebecca is the one. Even if you're in Vegas, she is absolutely worth the drive to Pahrump if you have a dog like ours. We would choose her again in a heartbeat.
