The Equine Emergency First Aid course provides an introductory overview of how to manage common medical emergencies when they happen to horses. This does not include any advanced veterinary medical content regulated by law and the state veterinary practice act. Topics include: Transporting and restraining sick and/or injured horses, how to prepare an emergency plan and first aid kit for your farm, how to perform triage, physical assessments including obtaining vital signs, traumatic injuries such as wounds and fractures, how to apply an emergency splint, how to perform quick release ties and use safety ropes, important supplies in the equine first aid kit and how to use them, severe bleeding, burns, eye injuries, digestive Issues, emergencies that happen on the trail and horse shows and more.
Every course offered by Pet Emergency Academy contains a curriculum that is carefully designed by veterinary and animal professionals for the best educational experience. Courses are On-Demand which means they are made up of various content items such as tutorial videos, class recordings, and presentations that each participant can proceed through at their own speed. Instead of a participant having to join and review material at a specific time, they can go through the course content when it is convenient for them. Each class is approximately 3 contact hours of instruction. Petworks will email the purchaser a code which the purchaser can use on the Pet Emergency Academy website www.petemergencyacademy.com. Courses must be completed within 30 days from the date of redemption.
