I work in colored pencil and mixed media, on heavyweight archival paper, capturing the personalities and unaffected, guileless way our animal friends move through the world.
I don't know how to adequately describe it, but the textural sensation of drawing a pencil across fine paper, working layer after layer, first light pressure and flicking, then heavier pressure, and slowly watching an image emerge, gives me great satisfaction and joy. It's not just the creation of the image though, it's also the privilege of getting to know your furry friends, and creating for you a lasting memory of them.
