Professional Dog Walker - Urbandale, IA

Hello! My name is Megan, and I am seeking dog walking opportunities in the Des Moines area. I have been around dogs my entire life and can’t imagine a home without them. Growing up, my family always had dogs, and today I have two lovable lab mixes that I absolutely adore. Caring for them has given me extensive experience with dogs of different personalities, energy levels, and needs.

While attending the University of Iowa, I volunteered at the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center, where I spent much of my time working directly with shelter dogs. My responsibilities included walking dogs of all sizes and temperaments, helping them get exercise, socialization, and mental stimulation during their stay at the shelter. I also focused on providing enrichment activities to improve their well-being and reduce stress. Some of the activities I facilitated included snuffle mats, “find it” scent games, puzzle toys, and even creative activities like “nose painting.” Through this experience, I learned how important patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement are when working with animals.

I am comfortable handling dogs with varying energy levels and personalities, from energetic puppies who need plenty of exercise to older dogs who prefer a slower-paced walk. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and take pride in ensuring they are safe, happy, and well cared for.
