Pet Loss Support
Companioning a beloved animal through aging, illness, or death isn’t something we are meant to carry alone.
We can be kind, strong, intelligent, and resourceful—and still there are times when we need support. That’s part of being human. And this is one of those times.
Realizing your companion animal is nearing the end of their life, receiving a difficult diagnosis, or facing the reality that they have died can feel shattering. Having another person to walk alongside you during this time is not just helpful—it’s vital.
I am here to do just that.
Every person and every animal is a unique expression of life. Our work together honors the singular nature of your bond while supporting you in finding the best way forward. End-of-life experiences and grief after loss can be painful and complex—our work creates space for you to move through them in an authentic, grounded, and resilient way, so you can remain connected to your animal and yourself through this time.
I hold deep respect for the painful thresholds that bring people to this work. While we honor the suffering, we also gently make room for meaning, connection, and even a sense of purpose within this experience.
Background
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) specializing in the human–animal bond, with a focus on supporting people who experience their animals as integral members of their family system. I currently work with clients located in Minnesota and offer individual, online appointments for adults.
My training includes work in Veterinary Social Services at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center, where I supported individuals and families navigating advanced medical care for their beloved animals.
This work included:
End-of-life planning and non-medical decision-making
Euthanasia support
Pet loss grief and bereavement counseling
I bring highly specialized training and experience in this area.
I have worked across clinical settings including hospitals, clinics, and private practice. My areas of focus include:
Veterinary social services
The human–animal bond
Grief and bereavement (pet loss)
Anxiety and depression
Trauma-informed care and sensorimotor approaches
Mindfulness-based practices (including meditation and somatic work)
Pain reprocessing–informed approaches
I come to this work not only professionally, but personally. I have been deeply connected to animals throughout my life, and my most meaningful relationships have often been with my own beloved animal companions. Like you, I have faced the profound grief of losing them.
It has been through connection—with both human and non-human loved ones—that I have found my way through.
I am here to offer that same kind of steady, compassionate presence for you.
