I am a reward-based trainer located in Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada.
I believe that education holds the key to nurturing and strengthening the bonds between dogs and humans. As responsible owners, it's our duty to train and manage our furry companions with kindness and respect, building partnerships based on trust and cooperation, not fear. I teach a straightforward method that allows quick mastery—a technique adaptable to teach your dog anything you desire in the future, setting both you and your furry friend up for success from the get-go.
My journey in this field began when I took the first national dog trainer's certification exam by the CCPDT in 2001, earning my CPDT-Knowledge Assessed. Additionally, I'm a Professional Member of the APDT and was recognized as a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant by the IAABC in 2005. Over time, I've invested in my education, completing an online course in Applied Behavior Analysis from Utah State University with Dr. Susan Friedman in 2013, and an intensive instructor's course for reactive and fearful dogs with Grisha Stewart on Behavior Adjustment Training.
In 2015, I dedicated three months to an intensive course, earning my certification in working with Separation and Isolation Distress in dogs, becoming a CSAT - Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer. Each certification and course has equipped me with valuable tools and insights to better understand and help our canine companions thrive in various situations.

Deb is a miracle worker! For the first time in 2 years we can leave our little Gilly alone in our apartment without her creating a disturbance for our neighbors. While we are still building her tolerance, this is the first time we have seen any progress with Gilly and it has only been 9 weeks. After trying four different trainers and vet behaviorists that held themselves out as "trained" in separation anxiety (plus every other "solution" under the sun), I can tell you Deb is the real deal. She makes herself widely accessible through video and phone, so working with her in NYC from her home in Las Vegas was a breeze. We highly recommend Deb! - New York City, NY
- Emily SDeb’s training was individualized, she knew what to look for, and pointed things out about Lola’s behaviors and our reactions that had never actively occurred to us. She explained what Lola was doing, what we were doing, and how our reactions would affect Lola. And then Deb would make adjustments to Lola’s training between every “mission.” And, finally, after all our failed attempts on our own, we saw real progress!
- Steven KWe can confidently say 8 months later that the training works! Deb's expertise has been vital during this journey. We worked directly with her for the first two months of training, and through the use of off-the-shelf video technology (webcams, etc.) she was able to join us in our home...observing Wally in the home environment and getting a true picture of his situation. She made several suggestions that were appropriate for Wally (ex: we added a see through gate at the main entrance/exit point, we also stopped crating Wally as the containment only heightened his anxiety, etc.) and all of them have helped him immensely. Since those first two months we have been on our own with her helpful guidance, and she has been a dedicated partner in the process. The training is not easy...in fact it is very hard...but with diligent commitment we have learned that it is very effective at getting an SA dog well. Wally is the better for it, and so are we.

Recommended Certifications for Dog Trainers
When choosing a dog trainer, professional certifications are a strong indicator of expertise, experience, and commitment to ethical, science-based methods. Widely recognized credentials include the CPDT-KA or CPDT-KSA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, which demonstrate mastery of modern training techniques, canine behavior, and learning theory. The KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner) highlights trainers skilled in positive reinforcement and clicker training, while the IAABC Certified Dog Trainer credential, recognized internationally, signals advanced knowledge in behavior modification and problem-solving. Membership or certification through the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) further reflects ongoing education and adherence to ethical standards. Many trainers also pursue specialty certifications in areas such as aggression management, behavior modification, or puppy development to address specific challenges.
For pet parents, choosing a certified trainer like Deb Manheim, ensures that your dog’s training is grounded in science, safety, and compassion. Asking about a trainer’s credentials is one of the best ways to make a confident, informed choice.
