I sculpt 3D portraits and cast in bronze with custom patinas based off of owners photos.
I cast using the ancient practice of Lost Wax Method of casting. I sculpt animal in clay, once approved I have a mold made, I pour wax into the mold, clean up seam lines, add a hating system to allow metal to fill and gases to release. Now I take the piece to a bronze foundry where the will make a heat resistant shell, once thick the wax is melted out leaving a negative image of the sculpture, now they pour molten bronze into the shell. Clean up, welding, and patina is done with chemicals and a torch.
