Her ongoing professional coursework includes a focus on aggression, anxiety, reactivity, cognitive psychology, ethology, and neuroscience. Beezy’s Pack is committed to a standard of excellence, adhering to a stringent code of ethics and responsibility. This includes the values of empathy, compassion, integrity, honesty, respect, trust, openness, fairness + transparency.
Our approach is both holistic and functional in nature. When working with any animal, we consider their entire being – the comprehension that the parts are intimately interconnected and explicable only by reference to the whole. Our practice is focused on purpose and the way in which we operate, practically and usefully, rather than simply appearing attractive. We focus on the overall well-being of the animal, rather than on only the presenting symptoms. Our roots are based in relationship-centered training, ethology (the study of animal behavior), and psychology (the study of behavior and the mind). We follow evidence-based and science-backed methods that have been proven to be not only the highest performing but also the most compassionate form of care for all animals.
Our goals when working with any animal are…to focus on fostering a healthy + supportive relationship…to strengthen the connection between animal + human…to mitigate fear + any need for self-preservation…to manage + reduce stress at all times, whenever and wherever possible…to understand that effective communication is a conversation between individuals…to remain instinctually fulfilling + reinforcing to the individual learner…to work within the individual’s psychobiology, recognizing both innate and learned behaviors in development…to follow LIMA strategies, meaning to consider + apply the least intrusive, minimally aversive procedures in any and all circumstances…to recognize the value of impact over intent.
We understand that our dogs can help us to deepen our own awareness and often act as reflections because behavior is feedback. We believe that feedback can be supportive or interruptive while remaining positive. While working in behavior modification, we are always aware of the learner, the emotions and perceptions involved, and the corrective feedback that is applied to the situation.
We determine what each individual dog requires to become the best versions of itself, which is never one-solution-fits-all. We believe that all dogs should have freedom of choice (agency), adequately provided guidance (leadership), consistently applied and fairly enforced boundaries (structure), and healthy outlets for their mental and physical energy (enrichment). We give our dogs and their humans the knowledge, experience, and confidence needed to have lifelong success together as family members and members of the community.
