Hello there!

Instead of sending me a message here on Petworks, please head to my website Rebeccafrankdogtraining.com instead and fill out my contact form! It will be a faster way to communicate with me. Looking forward to it!

I currently offer puppy training options, Behavior Modification and Training options, and Cooperative Care training options. Cooperative Care is an area of positive reinforcement dog training that helps dogs feel comfortable and positive during vet and grooming procedures. It includes teaching them specific behaviors, like allowing paw handling, to reduce stress. The goal is to build trust and create a relaxed experience for both the dog and the owner.

Read on to learn more about me my background and qualifications...

I graduated from the Dog Training Internship Academy as a certified Dog Trainer and Behavior Consultant and I graduated from The Karen Pryer Academy as a Certified Training Partner. For the last five years I have been working in the Behavior and Training department at San Francisco Animal Care and Control. For 7 years now I've run my private dog training business, Rebecca Frank Dog Training. For three years, I worked at a positive reinforcement-based puppy school, SmartyPup, as a lead trainer in their Day School program. I have completed my examination of knowledge through the Certification Counsel for Professional Dog Trainers and will receive an additional certification through The Karen Pryer Clicker Academy in April 2022.

I continue to expand my dog training knowledge by attending lectures, seminars, and by keeping up with current literature. I have a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a background in working with adults and children who have developmental disabilities. I work effectively on the human side of things as well as the dog side.

My ultimate goal as a dog trainer is to help my clients understand how their dogs think and learn in order to promote positive and compassionate human and animal relationships.

I am thrilled to be a part of the current movement working to shift animal training away from traditional, punitive methods to current, force free, and scientific methods. It's time to raise this industry's standards!

What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?

When your dog is doing something you don’t like, ask yourself, 'What is the function of this behavior?' Instead of just trying to stop the barking, lunging, or jumping, look deeper—what is driving the behavior? Understanding the underlying need, whether it's fear, excitement, or frustration, allows you to address the root cause rather than just the symptom. Real progress happens when we meet our dogs where they are and provide them with alternative, more appropriate ways to get their needs met.

What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!

I’m passionate about helping pet parents understand their dogs on a deeper level—why they do what they do and how we can work with them instead of against them. My approach is always science-based, force-free, and centered on creating a positive, trusting relationship between you and your dog. Also, I’ll never promise ‘quick fixes,’ but I will promise creative solutions, support, and a whole lot of encouragement along the way!
