Once your beloved companion leaves its physical body, the void is enormous and awful. Still seeing them everywhere, staying in the routines you shared, yearning to pet their fur, missing that loving eye contact. It is visceral, and there can also be other emotions that come up too.
And then that tone-deaf, grief-illiterate, bright-siding that well-meaning family and friends provide "Oh at least....and...you can get another..."
