As a little girl, I always knew I had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. I would always be so sensitive to animals in movies on TV who would get hurt or die and it made me very upset. I grew up with many pets as a child including dogs, cats, turtles, birds, hamsters, fish and even tadpoles. When I was 21, I adopted my very first pet, Petey. He was a pit bull from the Spartanburg Humane Society. I knew when I found him online I just had to have him and nothing was going to stop me. Petey and I were very close buddies for many years. In 2007, we adopted Missy, a pit bull shepherd mix, as a stray running our neighborhood for days on end. Petey and Missy accompanied our family during multiple moves and we finally settled in our forever home in 2020. My dogs have both been very healthy but come to find out Petey starting having breathing issues July of last year which led him to a terminal diagnosis of GOLP/LP. My family and I were devastated as we watched him get put to sleep with a tube down his throat to keep him breathing. I honestly thought life as I knew it for me was over. I always told him all the time to please send me signs and come back, whatever that meant. I truly didn’t know what it meant. Every morning my feet hit the floor I was reliving the nightmare of my best friend being gone, forever… and never to see him again. To my surprise Petey showed himself in multiple forms throughout these past few months and I feel like part of the higher purpose of his passing was to “open” me up so I could finally pursue my passion of working with animals. I have been studying Reiki and animal communication and recently became a Reiki Master. My passion is to work with animals and be able to someday communicate with them so that I can help others who have been grieving the loss of their beloved pet. Currently I am just practicing and am looking for a mentor in my immediate area of Greenville, SC who can show me what they do day to day. I want to be able to start a mobile business someday soon so I can serve more animals and pet parents in need.
