30 Minute Walks
BEST FOR LOW-MID ENERGY dogs who just need to stretch their legs and sniff what's up with the neighbors

BEST FOR HIGH ENERGY dogs who are inclined to destroy the house if they don't get regular exercise. Trips to the dog park are an option with this walk, depending on location

About Chris:
I'm a casual, easy-going person who understands that I am lucky when I get an animal's approval, and I don't take that for granted. I can't be around animals and not want to interact with them. I genuinely enjoy their company and do my best to ensure they enjoy mine.

Why I love pet sitting:
I've been an animal lover all my life, and grew up with dogs and cats. I like any animal who decides he/she likes me. To me, they're all beautiful little youngsters who just want to be loved.

My experience administering medication:
I have interned in veterinary clinics, and with wildlife rehabilitators, so I'm comfortable with giving oral, subcutaneous and topical medications.

My main focus is always to get everyone's basic needs met first (food, medication, bathroom breaks), before anything else happens. Then we can focus on having fun, whether that's a walk, playtime or just a really good massage. Animals are pretty good at telling me what they need.

My approach to animal care is basically just following the cues of the animals in question - for the most part, they're pretty smart. I'll offer toys, and maybe we'll play. I'll offer pets, and maybe someone will get a tummy rub, but I never force anything. If animals need me to do something, they'll let me know. My job is pretty much just paying attention and keeping everyone alive and happy.

As long as your dog is nice and well-behaved, breed doesn't matter- Rottys, Pit Bulls, Chows- I love them all.

My ideal canine client has the following qualities:

* low prey drive (doesn't chase small animals)
* trained to walk on a leash; not a deal breaker if not already trained
* low to moderate energy level; high energy dogs are enjoyed in moderation

Skills and Communication:
*Oral medication administration
*Injected medication administration
*Senior dog experience
*Special needs animal experience (excluding aggression)
*Can provide daily exercise
*Can provide daily photos/updates
*Usually responds in under an hour

How did you hone your craft?

I have 30+ years of personal animal experience, 15 years as a professional pet sitter/dog walker. Spending consistent time with animals is always the best way to understand their wants, needs and quirks.

What tip would you give pet parents for working with animals that you've learned as a pro?

Work with your animal, instead of against, whenever possible. If your pet is resistant to a task, whether it's nail trimming, bathing, or training, be prepared to take breaks when necessary to 1) minimize stress (for both of you) and 2) reassure your pet that you're a friend, not an enemy. And if you can turn whatever you're doing into a game, it'll be that much easier for the both of you.

What is one thing you want pet parents to know about you? It can be whatev-fur you'd like!

I talk to animals. Not in a "dog whisperer" sense, but I have legit conversations with them. Some people might find this odd, but it really helps with my engagement. You have been warned.
