Dog Behaviorist and Service Dog Trainer - San Francisco, CA by Dan Behaviorist
Our course teaches skills to become a service dog and a qualified handler. We train dogs from 10 weeks to 6 months old. The course is approximately 12 to 18 months in duration.
We adhere to Assistance Dogs International (ADI) Standards and Testing. The course time frame and cost depend on the necessary daily tasks and the dog's ability to learn those tasks. The program will cover Assisted Intervention tasks standards for graduating Assistance Dogs.
Most teaching sessions are approximately one hour long, once a week, at your location. During the program, specific modules require at least two weekly sessions. Exceptions are listed in the program.
All dogs under 6 months old must first be evaluated for temperament, resiliency, stability, and trainability utilizing the Volhard Testing procedure. The cost is $150.
The initial Professional Assessment and CBARQ Test cost for dogs older than 6 months is $225 (unless waived). It will include the handler’s ability to care for and maintain daily handling requirements.
Passing the initial evaluation does not guarantee that your dog will be able to complete the program to become a service dog. We will do everything we can to help your dog be successful.
Please contact us for a free consultation to discuss disability task needs, total program costs, and puppy selection if necessary. Financial payments are arranged per module, not the total program cost.
Discounts are available to Veterans and First Responders.
